noob question (but important)
hi um i was wondering ive only had planes that use 1 servo for ailerons im thinking of getting a 3d buddy that uses 2 for ailerons, do i need a 4 ch reciever and where do i plug the 2 aieleron plug things?

You probably are going to want a Y-connector to hook your two servos into one slot on your reciever. I assume you are using aileron, rudder, and elevator control surfaces with nothing else? If so, then 4 channels should be sufficient.

Two aileron servos also gives you the option to run "flaperons," where you can use the mixing capabilities in your radio to raise or droop both ailerons in the same direction at the same time. While flaperons have limited usefulness as landing flaps, they can be coupled to move in the opposite direction of the elevator, and may be of some use in 3D maneuvers.
For flaperons, you would need a computer radio and a 6-channel receiver. The second aileron servo would plug into channel 6. Maybe something to think about down the road? |
