New Slo-V!

Well, I went to the Local Hobby Shop (Al's Hobby Shop, in case any of you in chicago know about it) planning to get myself a slow stick. Well, I came home with a Slo-V and the "upgrade" battery. Had a few problems (mainly because i'm stupid, and my dad's a perfectionist :p ) during construction, but they're sorted out. The one I got had a little dent in the wing, but 1. I was too lazy to go return it, 2. I seriously doubt it will change the flight at all. I got it this evening, so I have not maidened it yet, but I will tomorrow, early in the morning if I can get up  , evening if I can't, since those are the two calm time in the Windy City. I don't actually live in chicago, just a suburb called Oak Park. Anyway, I was happy with the completed Slo-V, I even tried to get my dad to get one while I was at the shop, no go :( . I was hoping he'd get hooked and we'd have some air battles. My dad isn't really a hobby kind of person, but perhaps I can convince him with the Slo-V if I let him fly some (aka, if I can tear myself away from the sticks to let him try, if it doesn't crash). I did have a Firebird XL but I hated having only Throttle and Rudder (i guess it counts as rudder, not really aeileron) and not having any elevator to make it interesting. Also the park that is on my block just seemed a little cramped for the aerobird, and I hated trudging to a bigger park because I don't have a car or anything(i'm 15, learning to drive next year , for a ten minute flight then coming back. Now I can fly at the one right on my block without being afraid of the trees  etc. I actually beleive this is the longest post i've done. I've been flying on FMS for a while, I know thats not the best, but I feel confident I wont crash too badly ;) err, I hope. I can't wait til tomorrow!

1 more thing, My landing gear doesn't look straight, is this going to be a problem? The wheels look kind of bent in.

Also, Can I use my Firebird XL batteries in the Slo-V (7.2V 900mAh), and also, where can I get the right connectors for it?

RE: New Slo-V!

Maidened this evening:

1 thing that I remembered: I AM NEVER FLYING WITH MY DAD UNTIL I LEARN TO FLY.

I beleive he was waay more tense than I will ever be. I was semi-relaxed, but it's hard to concentrate when someone is going "ALEX, IT'S TURNING, IT'S FALLING"

I dunno if it's just me, but it seemed to climb really fast (I'm using the stock), so fast actually that it would have stalled out if it didn't like turning left. Not cool, hammerhead stalls right from takeoff, ugh. Anyway, i got a few flights in (and some crashes, but no harm to the plane at all! ). Then the wind picked up and I decided to call it a day, even tho I had a total time of like 20, maybe 30 seconds without my dad and mom telling me how I should do this, do that. So, i brought it home. I made the tail flaps level, but I noticed the servos don't move as far left as they do right, any idea why this is? Is this the same with all of the Slo-Vs or did I get a defect. With about 1/2 right trim, they move the same. But I dunno what to do if when i fly it it wants to turn right. So, lesson learned about the parents, plane not yet trimmed, so I guess it doesn't really count as a maiden. Ahh well, i'll see what it's like tomorrow morning if the winds let me.

RE: New Slo-V!

yeah i have a slo v also and the first time we used it it wasnt working what we later found out is that before you ever plug in the battery turn on the radio first then when you are done unplugh it then turn it off.the guy at hobby hut switched our radio no problem.im now good enough to fly on my street.i live in western colorado so its hot.i can turn of the motor in flight and ride a thermal higher and higher so thats cool.my dad is a nag about flying.its tough at my house beacuse of the pressure and gusts from houses.so the first time i had to listen to damnit boy go left not right and blah blah blah so i told him to try he did badly and when he landed it he stalled and drove it into the ground bent the shaft 60 degrees at least and splintered the fusalage holy crsap im rambling weel peace out.oh the landing gear is tweaked im mine you just have to compensate in landings and take off.
