right turn
My GWS Pico Stick F, the one with a fusalage wants to turn right all by itself even with the rudder trim all the way to the left.
My first thought was that I had fouled up the motor angle but I don't see a way that you can do that if you follow the instructions, unless the instructions are wrong. The stabalizers and other surfaces seem to built correctly. Any thoughts would be appreciated. RM |
RE: right turn
Check lateral balance.
hold it by the nose and the tail and pull up quickly. See if it is the right wing that wants to drop all the time. |
RE: right turn
I tried the balance test several times and niether wing usually dropped.

RE: right turn
Well if it was a built up and covered wing I would say put a little washout in the left wing... I'm sure you COULD add washout by heating the foam, but I think it might weaken it.

RE: right turn
I guess I should have started by asking what could I have done wrong that would cause a plane to turn right all the time?

RE: right turn
You might have a slight warp in the wing or the vertical stabilizer might be out of alignment a little bit. There are probably numerous other possibilities as well that only a careful visual inspection can really diagnose.
The simple, easy, fast fix is to use the servo linkage to adjust the rudder to the left a little at a time until it flies straight with neutral trim. This probably will not result in the most efficient airframe, but it should mask the problem and make it flyable. |
RE: right turn
I presume that you have the motor/drive angled slightly to the right to overcome the torque steer. Try reducing this angle by adding some shims to your motor mount, if possible.
