Is this a piece of junk, or would it teach me to fly.

I don't know anything about that plane, but I guarantee it won't teach you to fly. No plane can do that!

RE: RTF on Ebay
I looked over the specs on the plane, plus looked at the pictures. The Plane is a Shun Da J-3 Cub, painted a different color. I own this plane, though heavily modified. In it's stock form, it is underpowered, but flyable. It is not the best plane to learn to fly on. If you are a total newbie, I highly suggest a PArkZone Slo-V or GWS Slow Stik. Although they are not scale looking (not as cool) they are easy planes to learn on. They are tough and cheaply repaired. They are also easily modified, from their stock form. Once you feel comfortable with either, then move into something more scale (something the resembles a real plane). The PArkZone Slo-V come ready to fly, out of the box, while the Slow Stik requires purchase of radio gear. Which way you go, depends on where you intend to go in the hobby. If you intend to stay in and get different planes, then the Slow Stik is the right purchase, as the electronics and transmitter can be moved to other planes. If you want to get stared and fly as cheaply as possible, then the Slo-V is the plane for you.......JMHO......Pat

i recoment the aerobird to learn on
if not that then the parkzone j-3 |
RE: RTF on Ebay
The Slow-V and SlowStik are good choices. So is the Aerobird Challenger. The PZ J3 Cub is an intermediate plane; not a good plane for a beginner. A much better choice is the HobbyZone SuperCub; one of the best beginner planes currently available.
If you don't like any of the above, you can also check out the T-Hawk, EasyStar, SkyFly, Red Hawk and Beaver. (But I suggest that you get the SuperCub - the best looking and best flying of all of these.) |
