Beginners: What Plane should I buy thread!

One of the 1st questions to be asked by a Beginner (newbie) in this Forum is "What plane should I buy first?" I'm working on a Complete list of Excellent Beginner Planes with all their stats & everything we like & dislike about the plane. This thread will be locked so it doesn't get filled with clutter. The list is still being worked, with new planes added as time premits.

This is another great 3Ch plane! The Skyscooter was MY FIRST plane!
This plane has Aileron/Elevator control. HOWEVER this plane is a little
tricky for someone who hasn't flown before. Ailerons take some time getting
use to. They really bank the plane during a turn and you'll want to over correct
the plane and then bad things start to happen. The Skyscooter is very tuff &
can withstand several hard nose landings. If the noes does brake off, a little
5 minute epoxy & it's good to go!

GWS Slow Stick
$34.99

Review: http://www.rcuniverse.com/reviews.ph...ew&reviewid=75
(have to dissigree with the "loops" comment. I can do about 6-7 loops in a row with out a dive, using the stock motor & a 8.4V pack)
Video: http://www.rcuniverse.com/magazine/r.../slowstick.wmv
(looks like he was flying in a VERY windy day, It's more like flying a kite in any wind over 10MPH)

Specifications
Wingspan: 46.3 in
Motor: EPS100C or EPS300C Power System
Radio: Hitec Focus 3
Length: 37.6 in
Flying Weight: 11.9 to 15.5 oz depending on flight pack choice
Wing Loading: 3.39 oz/sq ft

This is one of my Fav. Planes that i own! This Plane is also Rudder/Elevator Control.
The Slow Stick will take about 1 hour for a Beginner to build. This plane is allot more than
just a Slow Flying Trainer! Many use this plane to carry Cameras & drop bombs.
This plane climbs out at about a 40 Degree angle in a nice slow flying manner.
Once you have some altitude, cut the throttle and fly it for a good 20 Mins. 2 Minuses for this
kit is the WEAK Landing Gear & the motor. But for $35.00 this plane is a steal!

This Plane is what started it all! Rudder/Elevator control. This is one of the BEST as far as easy
flight goes. You can walk faster than this plane flies! Fly it in your front yard on INSIDE your
local gym. Build time is about 3 3 1/2 hours. There are tons of MODS for this plane to add strenght
and flight preformance. Want to get fancy and some nice testors paint and make your Tiger Moth Stand
out in the crowd.

Kavan Wingo
$89.00

Reviews: http://www.modelairplanenews.com/reviews/wingo.asp

Specifications:
Wingspan: 43.3 in.
Wing area: 403 sq. in.
Weight: 20 oz.
Wing loading: 7.2 oz./sq. ft.
Motor: 7.2V Speed 400 with direct drive
Prop: 4.92x4.33
Battery/ESC used: 8-500mAh AR Ni-Cd cells/Jeti JES 10 Acro
Radio: Hitec Focus 3

Another nice 3Ch Trainer. Rudder/Elevator Control. The Wingo builds in about
2 - 3 hours. This plane flies so nice and true. Glides forever. The stock wingo
comes direct drive with a Zagi Prop. This combo is ok but if you really want some
power and a higher rate of climb, i would suggest you get the Gearbox & Prop combo!
The only fault i have seen with the wingo is in anything other than a perfect landing
the nose will brake! Expoxy will fix it, but it will start to look ugly really fast!
