Slow Stick battery question

With my slow stick, I have the GWS 7.2 400mAh ni-cad that comes with the flight pack. Can I charge this with my MRC Super Brain (fast charge), should I trickle charge it, or charge it overnight with the tx/rx charger?

Hey Foghead,

I have the MRC Super Brain also. I would personnaly charge the pack at 1.0 ma. I suppose some would say go easy on the pack and charge at 0.5 ma, but I don't think 1.0 will do any damage. (2C would be 0.8 which you can't set with the MRC)

Make sure you set the charger to 1.0 ma, it defaults to 3.5!

That 6 cell pack may not give enough performance - but give it a try. I'm using 8 cell Nimh packs and really like them. I'm assuming you have the GWS 300 motor.

Yep, have the 300 motor. And thanks, I was gonna use 0.5 ma, but 1.0 seems close enough not do any damage. Also, is it ok to use the mrc supplied gator clips with a female bec plug & pigtail to connect to the sb? (I'm a recent convert to electric from nitro, pardon me if I sound dumb, but I'm learning as I go :)

I see no reason that a "clipped" on BEC connector wouldn't work OK. I permanently soldered up a Tamiya and BEC to create a "GWS" pig-tail for the charger.

The SS is a great plane.

Thanks again. My new motto: Go to RCU forum, read everything, ask questions, THEN go fly!

Looking forward to a relaxing evening of battery charging :D

Slow Stick battery question

i use an 8 cell nickel metal batt. with 1300 mah. on my slow stick.
it flys great. CG is very important with this plane and also the
WIND FACTOR has to be added in.(this plane doesn't take wind well) i think the ss is the plane to have. its slow and ez to control.
i moved my control horn out on my elevator so i could get more throw. i have about 2 in. off center of throw both ways. in wind you need every bit of it.
