Wingo Flight Recommendations

I recently bought the wingo as fun parkflyer. Does anyone have any recommendations on "upgrades" that I can do to the plane, especially for longer flights? What type of battery would you recommend? Or even engine upgrades? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

are you flying with the Gearbox and 9.6V yet? if not thats your answer. The DD WIngo flies ok, but the GD Wingo climbs up much faster and has allot more thrust. Give it a try.

I bought my Wingo and the gear reduction and the 8x6 prop. I bought the recommended batteries. The DD with the stock prop WILL ABSOLUTLEY out perform the reduction kit with the bigger prop. HOWEVER, I didnt have the 9.6v battery. Im playing around with the idea of going to a 9.6 or so, to see if I can infact get some more performance out of mine. This is the first I've heard of going to a 9.6v. Im interested to find out more from anyone else.

you'll notice a HUGH difference between the 8.4 & 9.6 Batts while using the GD. Please come back and tell us your fligth report after you try the 9.6!

Where do I find a good deal on a 9.6. LHS doesnt carry them. Going to order new Wingo today. My old wingo is lookin a little ragged out and not sure how much longer she will be flyable, and dont want to be stuck with out one. Hopefully I could have the 9.6 and GD on it and DD on ol' reliable(not sure how long it will be "ol reliable") and give a fair judgement. I would like to hear more from others on this topic of the GD vs. the DD and the 9.6 story.

You might consider going the other way. I flew mine with a GWS 370 B gearing and a 9X7 prop with a 2s2p 1020 kokam pack. AUW was 16 ounces. It wasn't that fast, but loops from takeoff followed by a 60 degree climbout were nice. The best part are flight times up to an hour with no thermals and lights for night flying. Loops , snap rolls, and stall turns in a gym. With wingloading that low thermalling is a breeze.

ps. I have even seen them fly with a plain old GWS A drive.
