Newbie needs help!
 

Okay, i got my first plane a f26-b stryker, i no its not a beginner plane, but i want to learn to fly it, if only flown it 4 times, and everytime i i throw it, it either goes straight into the ground or goes up alittle then crashes.

Are there any tips that i dont no that you guys can give me to get this thing going, cause i think planes will be cool, but right now im a little discouraged.

Gdel............ I am also new to RC planks and found that going with something above my abilitys has just cost me money and down time. Not familiar with your planes setup but have you checked the Center of Gravity on your plane to make sure its perfect? Also elevator and rudder perfectly straight? Ailerons if it has it must be good too. Basically from what I have been told and read here in these forums and at my LHS is that you should be able to toss your plane gently and it should glide straight and level to the ground and not nose dive or nose up and stall. I am learning and will be better equipped for my second flight on my GWS E Starter after I rebuild it. You are not alone! Its really hard to learn to setup a airplane if you have no experience. Good luck and i hope someone like Time Pilot or crash crash answers this thread......they have some great knowledge (as well as many others........ I forget names easily) and offer sound advice!

GDel there is a thread dedicated to the stryker in the park flyers forum, I'm sure there are quite a few people there that would be more than happy to help you.

I would say it sounds as if you either don't have enough up trimmed in for launch, are you launching it at full throttle or tossing it then throttling up. If it's the B I think it has the brushed 480 motor and should have plenty of power to fly well. I know the stryker is a nice flyer and is fairly stable at slow speeds but as a first plane it will be a handfull

cool thanks, but i throw it then go full throttle and pull down to lift it, and all my trims are set at neutral, what do i do to the trims to make it lift easier.

I watched a few people learn to fly using the Stryker as their first plane and they crashed, fixed, crashed, fixed, crashed and... It's rather hard to learn to fly when after launch, you crash soon after.

Check out the Stryker thread and learn as much as you can, but I'd recommend getting someone to help you learn, who will get you in the air high enough and teach you slowly and take over before you crash.

Or, get yourself a different plane. One that isn't so sexy, but will be willing to perform and put up with your clumsy attempts at your first tries. Most people recommend the plane they learned on, which only makes sense if they experienced success.

Everyone has a different way to learn. Listen to others and decide what's best for you. For me, I spent a lot of time on a cheap computer simulator until I could take off, do all required manuevers in a 'RC Wings' type program and land all in simulated windy conditions before I tried flying my Slow Stick (in zero wind conditions). After doing that for many, many hours, started flying slightly faster and more agile planes. This is my 4th year flying and I'm putting my brushless Stryker together at the moment. After flying a more tame wing, I have a lot of confidence that the maiden will be lots of fun, but uneventful.

A friend of mine would suggest finding a steep grassy hill and throwing it into the wind, if possible, and just letting it glide motor off. Keep the speed up by keeping the nose slightly down, not too fast, not too slow. Left turns, right turns, whatever you can manage before it touches down. Then, go get it, walk back up and repeat....

Batteries should be in the plane to keep the CG in the right spot.

ok guys, thanks, i got it flying now, but the propeller came off and it wont go up anymore now, how can i put the propeller back on, i put it on by hand and it comes off again.

Add a little CA to it, just be prepared to have to dremmel the thing off once it breaks. Glad you got it flying, it's very much not a trainer.

If the prop won't stay on, it's damaged. Chances are if you CA it on, it will not be on straight and viberate very badly. Spend the $5.00 and get a new prop. Don't make the learning curve any harder than need be by trying to fly something that has repairable issues. Extreme vibration will cause issues. It can even cause control issues that many construe as radio glitches. It can also cause your motor mount to loosen, which is already a known issue on the Stryker B.....Good Luck......Pat
