About wood frames they weigh more yes and no. Even though the wood frame wouldd open a wound on the body, the engine, prop and force hitting one in the face can take out ones eye, permanent scarring disfigurement.
Now for a Foam plane weighing around two pounds with prop and motor can take out ones eye and the electric motor like gas can burn skin. Touch the motor and batteries after flying.
What foam plane hit you in the chest? Give size, motor and prop position and weight.
THE PROPS USED ON TODAYS SMALL PLANES WERE BAND BY THE AMA YEARS AGO, THEY CAN PENATRATE THE SKIN LIKE A KNIFE. THEY CAN CUT AN ARTERY IN YOUR, NECK, FOOT, LEG OR EVEN STAB YOU.
MURPHY LAW: WHAT CAN GO WRONG WILL CAUSE SERIUOS INJURIES.

INSERT BATTERIES, TURN ON YOUR PLANE AND STICK THAT SAUSAGE IN TO THE PROP!

My dear friend, don’t get stressed, I don’t mean to post for anyone to get stressed over model plane flying, I fly illegally all the time. I want new pilots to know the dangers and keep in your mind the most important lesson, SAFETY, COSIDERATION AND RESPECT FOR OTHERS, FLY WITH A SPOTTER, A SPOTTER IS A PARTNER WHO CAN WATCH FOR PEOPLE, ANAMALS (DOGS OFF A LEACH), USE A LOT OF COMMON SENCE. I FLY SMALL PUSHER PROP PLANES, THEY FLY LIKE A KITE, I TAKE MY EYES OFF OF IT AND IT STILL WERE I LAST SEEN IT.
I FLY ELECTRALIGHTS ( PART PLANE PART KITE OR PARCHUTE ).
I don’t fly my electric corsair around a city park with thirty six inch wing span, I fly in the beach parking lot in the winter. Its fast, its four channel and its not a plane to take your eyes off of, I bring another pilot with me so we can spot each other. We take turns flying.
I flew nitro, this is the horror stories with gas planes, I saw pilots lose fingers and serious INJURIES. I seen burned eyes not on the pilot but people who stopped to watch. I seen accidents beyond your expectations some time I see them in my sleep.
I quit the hobby until I seen electric planes, made of wood over weight so I quit again.
I came back when the foam planes came into existence light weight.
My first foam plane was the wingo many names by different sellers. Weight one and a half pound PUSHER PROP.. First time out was in Cunningham park, been flying it every chance I get.
I have now been active in the hobby again nothing changed same laws.
But the planes, weight, motors, batteries and a new radios, 2.4GHZ great radio but I am still studying it.
I am careful around the 2.4 wifi, cordless house phone and cell phone I shut mine off.
