Battery help needed
Good afternoon everyone.
Being new to electric R/C I have recieved tons of great advice from all you here. I have decided on a Slow Stick as a trainer plane and an Electra Jet for when I become more experienced....hopefully by the end of the summer ( I didn't say which summer ;) ) Anyway, even with all of this great info I still don't know what battery I need for each......Please someone explain to me in baby battery talk what I need for each plane  The charger I have will not charge Nihm's. Thanks for all the advice I've gotten so far. Bob |
Battery help needed
If you get the Slow Stick, I HIGHLY recommend that you also get the GWS Flight Pack that matches the Slow Stick. It's Horizon Hobby part number GWS2080 or GWS2085, depending on whether you have a JR/Airtronics transmitter, or a Hitec/Futaba transmitter, respectively. You will get the right servos, the right receiver, the right ESC, and most importantly, the right battery for the Slow Stick. It'll be NiCd, so don't worry about that.
There is tons of discussion on the Slow Stick on http://www.ezonemag.com. Most of it has to do with hopups and squeezing more power out of the power system, but you can glean some good info from there. |
RE: Battery help needed
Matt,
Your answer to Skycop's queston makes more sense than any I have seen yet. The reason I say this is because I am new to this also and I have read just about everything there is on the Slow Stick, which I bought, and it seems everyone has something different to say and it starts getting confusing to a newbie as to which way to go. It's almost like I get the feeling that if I don't get that "hottest" battery or whatever, I won't be happy at all or I will crash and burn right from the start. Now, here you are saying get the flight pack, #2085, which is what I bought, along with a Futaba 6EXA radio. I don't mean to knock anyone's advise because it is all great advise but I feel a lot better, being new at this, to see someone say it is ok to go with a stock setup. I am just waiting on a crystal and a calm day to go for that maiden flight with the new Slow Stick. I have been flying the Firebird series prior. Thanks again....Pilot X |
RE: Battery help needed
I'm glad I could be of help :)
The nice thing about the stock flight pack is that it does not preclude you from hopping up your Slow Stick as you go. It's cheaper than buying all the parts separately, cheap enough that you can afford to buy another battery... Perhaps a battery with 7 or 8 cells for a quick, inexpensive performance hop-up? |
