Is it worth my time to buy a Icarus Bleriot without the electrics or should I look for something newer? Price is about $55 w/only motor.

bleriot
I've got the Ikarus Bleriot III and it was a great plane (the first one I managed to fly OK on my own cos it's so slow). However, in this day and age there is a much better starter plane - the GWS Slowstick. It flies in a very similar way to the Bleriot so is great for a learner but only costs something like $35 and that INCLUDES the motor/gearbox and prop. The choice is a real no-brainer (unless you particularly like the semi-scale looks of the Bleriot - each time I see the original, full size flying 1911 Bleriot XI at Old Warden I think of my first R/C success!)

RE: bleriot
Would you have the web site address for Icarus?
Thanks Jeff |
RE: bleriot
All you have to do is go to [link=http://www.google.com]www.google.com[/link] and search for the following string Ikarus Bleriot III.
The first link that comes up has several kits of this available. |
RE: bleriot
Hey there Jon, for what its worth I just purchased the Bleriot from Ikarus and I also have a Slow Stick. I purchased the plane for roughly $35 as they were/are have an end of year inventory clearance sale. The Slow Stick is wonderful for the self learner since parts are readily available and is relatively bullet-proof. The only thing that I have broken on the Slow Stick (on a regular basis, Ha, Ha!) are props, in addition upgrades a readily available as well. I bought the Bleriot with the intention as a slow park flyer that I can eventually buddy box to teach my girls on as well as liking the looks. I hope this gives you some direction
