E-flite Aeronca Champ
Do you think the OS 30 4 stroke would be worth a try in this plane.

RE: E-flite Aeronca Champ
When I converted mine I used a .15 OS 2 stroke. I had to cut off 1/4 of an inch off the fire wall to get it to fit in the cowl. As for power with a .15 on it at full power it flies to fast so I cruise mine around on half throttle. That gives me some extra power on the throttle if I get into trouble and need it. I don't think structurally the plane can handle a larger engine. On the .15 my champ lands about four clicks up from idle position.

If you fly it with 15 OS 2 stroke I will try a 30 OS 4 stroke. thanks wdemon

RE: E-flite Aeronca Champ
yes the OS 30 would be a great engine to use. run a 11x5 wood ZOAR prop and have a great combo. great power and pull but will also keep the speed down.

RE: E-flite Aeronca Champ
is there any build thread for this conversion?
|
Just noticed this thread but IL looking to buy a e-flite aeronca champ and I'm willing to pay retail price if it's still in good condition

Thatch46, The e-flite Aeronca Champ always appealed to me also, but I was never able to score one. Be aware that this model had main landing gear issues. If you do score one, research the threads on this model and make changes to the main gear to fix the problems. I do have the companion e-flite J-3 Cub converted to O.S. 25 LA glow power and it flys well . Good luck in your hunt.
