Has anyone tried to convert E-Flite PT-17 to glow-???
Sure did. A thread on it, somewhere. Used a Saito .40 four stroke. I added 1/4" plywood firewall. Loved it. Ailerons failed and I crashed it few months later :(

My first conversion had to be cheap and easy. I picked a GWS foamy Mitsu Zero fighter, added an integral-tank C*x reedy mill (Babe Bee type).

You can cover the sanded foam with dilute white glue and japanese tissue. (colored if you like)... then the foam will take lite coats of (yep thats right) DOPE! [X(]
(try this first on a foam cup).
Make needle valve and glow plug contact extensions to retain the full cowl. Be sure to provide air exits at rear of cowl.
Certainly an inexpensive ( in $ and time) intro to E2G conversions.

(PS; tip; check the decalage on the zero. Early copies were wrong.)
Very nice conversions! Always felt that Cox reedvalves would be perfect for such conversions.

I'd love to see that. Start a build thread.

Just waiting for some good weather to see if my Great Planes Ryan STA EP will fly with an OS10FP...3 lbs AUW (less than when I initially finished the build with the NiCd batteries, brushed motor & ESC, etc). Keep your fingers crossed!

I have just converted eflite advance 25e with os 25 . wonder if it will have enough power. balanced out good. just a little heavy on the nose with no added weight. looks good anyway.

I plan to convert some of my models to glow except for the sailplanes, once you cut the motor searching for a thermal, no way to start em up again. I like your signature, remember the mind is the first thing to go, can't remember what second is. I used to fly an 049 CL model when I was about 10 years old. I started out with electrics this time around but discovered glo and boy is it more fun, Yes ![8D]

RE: Electric to Glow Conversions

Hello everyone! I recently purchased a House of balsa p-47 thunderbolt made for a .059-.10 glow. I plan on using my E-flite 480 with a 30 amp esc, and a 3 cell 2100 mah battery. If anyone knows or has built one of these I was wondering how much down and right thrust to put on the motor. I also have a aluminum motor mount made for glow to electric but has no instructions . I'm pretty sure i need some offset to the motor to keep the plane from rolling from the torque of the motor.. Thanks for reading this and look forward to hearing your suggestions.
