No problem
It worked fine till last minute
Many Thanks , the weedeater is dead, but after many many hours of service and happiness.
The engine have 122 hours of logged hours in a small book, from new take out of a Weedeater machine
I replaced by a McCulloch 28 new , (the series built by Jeng Feng from Taiwan)
Have less than 10 hours but working beautifully

RE: Weedeater XT 250 broken bearing
the photos show broken bearing in crank pin
fisured bearing cup in piston pin
The small piece of bearing cup in the combustion chamber, stuck
the engine work well, stop in the air and when check for problems , I found this surprise
This is my first converted engine ruined in service but not the LAST.
Many thanks to RCU forum and the people who write here and assist people in the conversion
See you later

Hello
Av8tor:
Yes , I carving my propellers, for cost reason.
For delivery, standard mail work well, no problems.
things shipments take from 20-25 days but no problem by mail, surface mail.
1QwkSport
No Mopar No Chevy, salvage car shop, from a Renault van, other modeler have an old fuel pump of Ford Falcon, other from a Perkins diesel engine, talk with a modeler with oriented mechanic skills and go to a salvage yard and you can select a fuel pump with nipples to put a rubber fuel line, and a motorcycle in line fuel filter, put a metal tube in the lever and Voila you have a fuel pump that work until the pilot has beans in the stomach.
earlwb:
yes, I have a big problem to refuel gas engines , until see the car fuel pump.
A cheap fuel pump from a salvage yard will work well many years.
I have bought this fuel pump from salvage yard three years ago and have no problems.
This pump is not sealed unit, and the kit for repair is cheap.
Happy landings

RE: Weedeater XT 250 broken bearing
Hi Jose,Sorry to hear that you lost an engine, but it sounds like you got quite a bit of flying out of it. Thanks for sharing the pictures with us, nice to see another builder's work.I'm surprised more people don't make their own props especially with the larger gas engines. I like the hand carved ones more than the commercial units, they just seem to work better. I made a set of wood angle blocks so I can cut guide marks at each station then just sand/cut until the mark disappears, balance, and done. Pump was very creative, the old ford Y blocks have a sediment bowl/filter on the pump that works pretty good. I have one on an old truck, perhaps when I need a new one I'll use the old one for the range box.Clear skies and soft landings.

RE: Weedeater XT 250 broken bearing
Hello
propellant
Weedeater is well worn and destroyed, but in loyal service, to the last breath, many hours of happiness , also taught me many things.
Hand carved props, good hobby and nice piece to talk with others, but I start because have small pocket.
Now my economics is better , and can affort better equipment and engines to convert but make my own props, I managed skill and tools , also a time to relax .
Nice to see you make props, a good skill, a wood prop bought in China cost here near 25 dolars or more, a hand made prop, 1 hour of work (relax) and less 1 U$S, and good speed and thrust, I am a sunday flier and the speed and thrust is secondary.
Fuel pump, go to auto salvage and buy a recicled pump and enjoy, and a motorcycle paper fuel filter .
Happy landings

RE: Weedeater XT 250 broken bearing
Hi Jose,Yes, I like to keep the cost of airplanes down too. I will try posting a couple of pics of my props latter this week. It is pretty relaxing to watch the propeller slowly emerge from a wooden stick. I finally seem to have a handle on getting the ports setup correctly and the carbs reworked and tuned nice on the homelites and Ryobie's. I have an old Lombard chainsaw engine (power products AH-47 ?) that I want to try converting from cross scavenging to loop scavenging. Been lurking on this forum for awhile decided that I might have something worth posting so signed up.Nice to meet another builder.

RE: Weedeater XT 250 broken bearing
Hello
that sears 55 chainsaw uhhhhh
Have the same magneto coil of my McCulloch 28 cc (made by Jeng Feng in Taiwan , have stamped JF in front like mine)
This is a nice engine, good power, you have a puller engine, not les than 10 kg of thrust static (20 pounds aprox)
what a prop and I like the grain and color of wood.
The look is very good I make only square tips, easy way
Nice blocks, for marking , hours of work to reach the finished blocks ( calculus etc)
The Ryobi is good, I have a parts of a Ryobi, scored piston, to my surprise the bearings in rod have the same diameter of my Weedeater 25 cc, but the Ryobi is 31cc.
Pay attention to the duration of bearings, my Weedeater come from a new machine, from the box to the air and ever run with excess of 4% oil , may be 5 % or more from time to time.
Well lubed well cared, and running with the original foam filter.
Every 50 hours inspect play in the bearing, because I suspect of duration , you have 31 cc and tuned Uhhh.
My weedeater was stock cylinder, venturi enlarged to 3/8, only the muffler was free, an insecticide to kill mosquito with two 10 mm exhaust stacks.
Also original foam filter to protect from dust, I see in photos you not have this problem, but here is a semidesertic zone like Mexico frontier in texas, have dust.
For the cheap , my wings, in the photo next to the door, is made with white foam and brown paper , carpenters water based glue, and two spars up and two in bottom of wing, cheap fabric of inside of jackets (tafeta??? I dont remember name) ailerons of foam sandwiched with balsa, fuse near 70 % is 1/8 plywood of alamo wood.
Very good work , Mister
Continue with your labor, have very good skills.
Happy landings
