a video of a 4 cylinder gas engine
This video is of a Elmer Wall 4 cylinder flat head engine. I found it & got it running. The only conversion things I did was to build a ignition system for it. I did add a rod from the throttle arm to the distributor also. It had no compression when I got it, because it sat 25 years. The engine is about 40-50 years old. It has good compression now. I do got to finish the radiator and install it. Lots of fun! PS I know one guy that has one in a neat boat.

When I made the video I did not check the level of fuel in main tank. Having more fuel in the tank, there is no need to choke it between starts. If everything is done right, the engine runs even better. May make a new video when I got the radiator in place & a good ignition switch in place. Capt,n

Yeah! Very cool Captain John. You really do like all types of engines don't you? I myself would like to have something like that for display and just to play with sometimes. Well, I would like one of those Connelly-Perry V/8 engines, but big, big bucks there.....

Those engines are model engines with the key word being model. They, including the Conelly, Challenger etc are best suited for display and limited running on the display stand.

On the contrary, my engine was designed and built to run in a scale boat and it does that quite well and on regular occasions.
With a top end at 10,000 rpm, it doesn't get any special treatment either but rather built to perform.
In fact, more than many of the aircraft I build and fly.

It may be a while before I do too much on my engines. I spent 5 days in the hospital with a very bad sinus infection & could not sleep hardly at all. I think I had every test they could think of. A spinal tap was tried...but my backbone is fused together too much where they do it. I Am slowly getting my strength back. I am just thankful to make it through it all. Pray for us old folks. Thanks John

Hey Captain John, if you sign out, then sign in again as CaptinJohn, you will be in your original membership. Something got wacky when they changed the forum, and you got into a "Captain John" from Greece membership. Try it.

Thank you my friend from Lukeville, AZ. I still have a photo on my old computer of you Daughter with a big grin looking at some engines. Just like her Dad. That photo stuck in my mind...she must have loved engine too! Your Friend, Capt,n

Thanks Captain John. Glad to help. My daughter and I built her a Micro Telemaster to learn on. I don't care for electric planes so we converted it to a GP .07 glow engine. It flies great. Now I've got to get her practicing some more on the simulator! She's only 8, so by the time she is 12 she will probably be better than me, and an expert pilot. She loves race cars, boats, airplanes, engines; she's her "daddy's daughter"!
I'm in Tucson now.
Take care,

That is great news about your Daughter flying. Post a photo of her & a airplane when you get a chance. Great thing that she shares the same things as Dad !!!!

Hey AV8TOR, she still has that nice big smile. That airplane must be fun. Better than electric power also. The sound of a real engine to me is much better. Best regards Capt,n
