Magnum 1.80 & Saito 1.50 Gas Conversions?
Hi,
I have 2 engines (NIB) that I was thinking about converting to gas, and was wondering if it would be worth it? If not, I plan on selling them at a swap meet tomorrow!
What I was interested in is the cost to convert these engines and the reliability once converted? Will they function just as good as they did on glow fuel? I read that I will have to use allot more oil (10%-15%) than a normal gas engine (1%-2%). Also, from what I can gather, the cost of my engine plus the conversion parts, would put me within $100 of just buying an engine designed to run on gas.
Well, should I try and sell these engines and just go out and buy an engine designed to run on gas, or are they worth converting to gas. I would only want to convert them if I could be sure that they would perform as good they they would on glow fuel. I don't want to have to tinker with it for months at the field, or find out that it only puts out a fraction of the power that it would have using glow either.
Any advice you can give me would be greatly appreciated.
Thank You!

It can be done....BUT, it's not worth it...[]
One, the oil to gas ratio is way up their because of a bushed rod..about the same as glow.
Two, the added weight of the ignition and battery offsets the benefits..
If you still want to do it, CH Ignitions sells a kit...

Thanks for the replies guys!
I think I'll try to sell the engines...and get a purpose built gas engine instead.
