I make a hole in my hub a few thousands larger than the magnet, and use JB Weld to glue them in. Never had one come out. If it makes you feel better, you can use a center punch to crimp the magnet in it's hole in a few places.

The one in my converted SuperTigre G51 is glued in with epoxy and then staked as AV8TOR described above. It's been running for over 75 hrs of flight time and never had a problem. The magnet I used is 1/8"OD X 1/8"Long and I drilled the hole with a 1/8" drill bit. The magnet could be pushed into the hole by hand and if bumped on a table would fall back out. I put a small amount of 30 min epoxy into the hole and rubbed some onto the magnet then pushed it into the hole. I staked it in before the epoxy was dry and viola. I used the same procedure on my SuperTigre 90 and it has worked out just as well.

Thanks for the input gents, sounds like the epoxy method is what I will try first.

Magnet polarity facing the Hall sensor is important. Most want to see a S pole facing the sensor.

Step 1 drill hole for magnet .010" undesize
Step 2 pound magnet in with BFH
Step 3 order new magnet coz you smashed the first one to peices with hammer
Step 4 drill rim of trigger wheel coz hole for magnet in wheel face is now mangled beyond use
Step 5 glue magnet in with old CA
Step 6 watch magnet fly into the next county
Step 7 order new trigger wheel
Step 8 get new magnet
Step 9 follow above advice.

You need a known polarity magnet (i.e a compass will do fine), opposites attract, same repels.

just run it by sensor with everything connected and grounded properly and ignition on, when it sparks its the right polarity

The hook it up and try it thing worked, glad someone said something before I smashed it in place! Actually the magnet works with reverse roation if its upside down.
