Ryobi Again
I have a 31cc that I can't get to run to suit me. My question is , if I order a new one from Harbor Frieght will it be the 2 ring one or not?

Ryobi Again
The problem you have there is if you order one from H.F. its more than likely not going to be new but reconditioned. Therefore you might get the 2 ring & you might not! Wally World is selling the low end Yard Man that has the new 2 ring Ryobi in it for around $69 but the crank case has changed for the Ryobi to include a large cast mounting flange simular to the 25 & 30cc Homeys where as the old Ryobi mtg flg just unbolted. I just finished up one of these & with a little cutting & grinding you can get the case down to praticaly the same size as the old cases. I havent ran the engine so I cant give a report on performance yet!

Ryobi Again
Will the new 2 ring cylinder/piston/rod bolt onto the older case?

ryobi again
hi,
i just bought a weed eater from h.f. on saturday. it`s a twin ring. i think the twin rings have been out long enough that they`re probably all twin rings now. although they`re remanufactured they still need to be broken in. while i was there i noticed they had leaf blowers for $59.99 also. i don`t think theres a clutch on a leaf blower but best i could tell it looked like a long shaft engine.i needed a short shaft engine for my prop adapter but i thought about getting one for another plane. i heard the long shafted engines are better for bolting props on? hope this helps. conk |

has anyone tried an alectronic ignition on the ryoby? besides saving some ounces I wonder if they put more power?

Ryobi Again
If you opt for the more costly spark advancing ignition like from C&H then yes you'll see some rpm gains. The less costly one will only save weight. You can remove the key in the shaft to allow you to reposition the flywheel and use green threadlock to hold it in place, in effect advancing the timming. The key only acts to hold the timming at the factory preset its the taper in the shaft the holds it there. If you can get or make with a protractor, a timming wheel, you can find the current timming, 25*-28* or so and rotate the flywheel conter-clockwise to 30*-35* you will see greater power from the motor. However, the farther you go the harder the starting the motor becomes so make small adjustments and use a good tach to fine tune your results.
