I fit hall sensor, magnet new hub etc

The interesting part I think is that I removed original carb and make new intake with walbro carb support. I will use a modified walbro for 4 strokes

Intake is 3 parts maiden from aluminum, and is aluminum welded

Nice job!And what ignition module do you use? Is 30:1 mixture enough oil to operate the engine? If the con rod is not roller bearing supported then you should increase oil content!

Tahnks a lot Nikolas

Im Using Rcexl ignition. Oil is enought only use a high quality synthetic. I had ran my saitos with 1:40 many hours and still excellent. Hopes this ASP be too. I tested many oils. Some oils burn easy and not lubricate engine. others still with viscosity. I found that almost all 2 strokes aoils are not good, , burns very easy. I found that oils designed for mix 1:100 are better oils here in Mexico i found Amsoil excellent.

In other hand more oil, less power, and begins walbro problems

Hi Max. Nice job [8D]

What size Walbro/type did you use? - I had most luck with 9.5mm choke and with accelerator pump (WT-38).

very nice !!

I have the Magnum 180 fs, it should be the same Engine,,

a little info, my Magnum had very little compression, it came stock with 2 Head Shims so I removed 1 Shim, the RPM came up 700 RPMs (but I run it on Glow), there is a guy here on RCU that removed both Shims (but here too he is burning Glow),, so you may want to think about removing 1 of the Shims to get a bit more power,,

I get 8850 with an APC 17x8 on 15% glow and it drinks about 1oz a minute,,

what size Prop are you using there ??

BTW,, that Engine sounds as if it needs the Rocker Arms adjusted, when my Engine was new I had to re-tighten the Head Bolts 3 times and re-adjust the Rocker Arms 3 times within the first gallon of fuel !!!

May be problems with head when remove shims, something desadjust of corse when you remove itneed adjust vavles

I'm using 16% Oil,,

as for me removing that Shim, I removed the Shim when I broke a Valve Spring when I had a Blade Strike,

I was thinking, with that Engine burning Gas it may run hotter and may need a larger Lash than the Factory Specs

I have not seem Max on here for some time now. He does nice work for sure. I would not use Amzoil because they changed the ingredients ..............

mikes68charger 06-18-2014 06:18 PM

I know this is a old thread, but I got 2 conversion kits from Max, for 2 new ASP 1.80 4c from HK for my ESM B25.

One of these motors I have around 5 flights on in a spacewalker, but they are both basically new.

I feel like Im low on power, Im getting 8600rpm on a MAS 15X7X3 prop which according to the calc is 2.143 hp vs 3+ that most of you ASP owners are showing.

But just reread this thread and may have found one of my issues, as Im running my oil at 20:1 as that is what I thought we needed, Im sure I may pick up a few rpms with more fuel. I will try and see if there is a diff.

dogshome 06-19-2014 12:01 PM

16*8 on petrol with ~~8,000 RPM (or less) and 20:1 oil is right. 15*7*3 at 8,600 is good. 18*8 only OK for methanol with a lot of oil.

If you don't have a roller main bearing, don't run less oil than 20:1! It will seize!

I would like to know where I can purchase just the ring to go over the hub.

Would be good to know where to buy a length of aluminium tubing and cut my own.

Need 27mm id with about 35 od.

I converted my 180 to ignition burning ethanol 10:1 sintetic.
After run in I inspected and found everythink well oiled an clean, no carbon.
Measuring the parts I noted the crank pin marked and the conrod bush oval.
In the pics below You can see the pin bush with 3 oil holes, 2 downward and a third one uppward, just in the area where the pressure is higher.
I balanced the engine as per the book and made another bronze bush, only two holes down.
Have one of You met this issue???
Note 3 holes in original pin bush.
