need help
I am trying to find out what cc my WeedEater Vac Blower BV2000LE 200MPH engnine is. I am looking for a engine to go in my Balsa USA Sopwith PUP 1/3 scale 110" wingspan.With my budget I am going to convert a engine as long as it is big enough.........Dont have the money to buy a new gas engine for it as money is real tight right now LOL..........thanks for any help " this is my winter project"

Try doing a Google search on the type of engine you have, eg, WeedEater Vac Blower BV2000LE. You will probably find out that it is something around 25cc.

Too small. It would be to small for the 1/4 scale. You should be looking at 50cc or more. A 65cc chainsaw or blower would be in the ballpark. No worries about weight on these. You will be adding lead to the nose, even with a heavy engine.

From what I could find during a quick search it is an HO (High Output) 25CC engine.

That little engine would be hard pressed to taxi it at a brisk walk. The cowl is 13" in diameter, an 18" prop would only clear it by 2 1/2". A G-62 would be a great choice. |

Thanks all that pretty much answers my question..........I got a chance to buy 2 490 Jonsered engines one runs and the other one is just for parts for 30.00 dollars,but here I go again I never heard of that brand of chainsaw or the cc of them. I"ll try to google that brand and see what I can find out. Thanks again !!!!!!!!!!!! I really like this site.

Jonsered is an old original chainsaw brand. It belongs to the Husqvarna co and the ones from the last 30 years match corresponding Husky saws, blowers, whackers, etc.
They are one of the top world brands I have several Husky implements and the cylinders are made by Mahle on mine. |

Hard to tell without looking at the engine and digging in a bit... go HERE for a little more info on it, 49cc saw so about the size you're looking for but maybe a little small.
Looking at that picture, it looks like side intake and exhaust so a little easier to work with than front intake and rear exhaust :) |

Thanks Rangerfredbob for the info. I belive it will be big enough for the Sopwith.......it calls for a 50cc on up so its border line,but it should work I will do a little port work ,ect,,,I have a old Atlas lathe that my father-inlaw left me so I can do alot of any machine work that needs to be done. well thats for every ones advice I am on my way this morning to pick them up.For 30 dollars for the 2 I cant go wrong.I have other planes that I could use them in also p-51 mustang,piper cub and a few more

Be careful cutting on the magnesium crankcase that you do not have a fire or it will burn like the head of a match

Thanks I picked up the engines today and one of them runs excellant the other one I have yet to try,the one I did start is very ,very strong for 30 dollars it was a good deal Hell I can you one of them just as a chainsaw just have to buy a bar and chain LOL

I didnt relize the case is completly built around the engine,does anyone know what I should use to cut around the engine? Hell I cant even figure out how to completly split the case, I thought I had all the bolts out,I even took off the head.Any help would be greatly appreciated Thanks Chuck

I use an abrasive cut off wheel in a right angle grinder. Harbor freight has them for less than $10.00 on sale. Good luck.

I use a coarse blade in a hack saw, they cut aluminum and magnesium fast

Thanks for the pointers! should I try to get the case apart,there is still the gas tank and oil thank some where in that case LOL like I said I think I have all the bolts (screws) out but it dont want to come apart .Am I missing something?

Spaceworm! I am going to Harbor fieght and going to get the cutting wheel for my big hand held Black&Decker grinder.I" called them and they do have one for 10.00 or less I will let ya"ll know how it comes out

That's a 70's 52cc Pioneer chainsaw, or at least started out as one... was removed with the hack saw method. Aluminum and magnesium are difficult to cut with cutoff wheels as they have a tendency to plug up and stick to the material. I've found the easiest way to remove mass amounts of material is to get a start with a saw then chip pieces away with pliers or screwdrivers or wrenches. |

Rangerfredbob! Thanks for the help....I found a Black&Decker saw-sawll that was left from my father inlaws estate and used it on my 490 Jonsered and I got rid of all the extra material now I just have to put it on the grinder and touch it up and polish it up......What ignition system did you use on yours? I will be taken some pics in progress as soon as my wife gets back from the store! LOL thanks

A Little more work with a half round and a flat file will dress it up

A good quality carbide cutting bit in a Dremel will work good to for dressing. Use a little WD 40 and a steady hand will produce a super finnish. Capt,n

yes I"use my dremel and files,,thank goodness I am on the down slope! I really didnt know what I was getting in, I know the other 490 Jonsered is staying as a Chainsaw LOL
