Need 3 inch aluminum spacers - help

Hello everyone.

For being able to mount a mightylite 26cc homelite I need to get 3 inch spacers.

Any idea where I can get them or how to make them

I have already get 4 inch screws but cant get the spacers.....have gone to Home depot and they only have short steel spacers (very heavy)

Any advice will be appreciated.

Regards.

This place has 3"threaded aluminum standoffs in round or hex, with threads at each end only. You would have to know what thread your screws are.Their aluminum unthreaded spacers only go up to 2" in length. http://www.mcmaster.com/#threaded-standoffs/=ji5gkc

You can also use pieces of hardwood square or dowel to make spacers. Even a broomstick will work if you don't let your wife catch you cutting pieces off of it....

10-32 all thread will make bolts of any length. Goop up the end the goes in the engine with thread locker. 10-32 is a hair smaller than the 5mm that the hole is likely threaded. Big dowels are good they give a large base and resist tipping better than a smaller diameter standoff. This is all well and good but if you are making 3" stand offs consider making a plywood box. It would be stronger. Then use you long bolts/all thread to secure the assembly to the original firewall.

it's most likely 10-24 as is, so might as well start with that.

I second the hard wood if you don't have a lathe to make your own standoff's

Thanks a lot everyone, great idea, seems my wife will need a new broom.

By the way it seems like this new design of Homelite Mighty Lite 26cc is a less restricted engine, it has an Exhaust the same size of the DLE 55 and a 13mm carb on it it should be a good performer

Thanks everyone

It will be interesting to see what rpm numbers you get with it. I may be unhappy that I've let a few of these slip through my fingers.... ;)
