Ryobi conversion.
 

I'm hoping somebody can answer my question with respect to the CH Ignition "kit" for Ryobi 31 cc engines ...

Do they come with everything I need to convert an engine? Are there any other parts or machining that has to take place (flywheel, case, etc).

The reason I'm wondering is that the price of $120 doesn't seem like enough, considering other companies are charging $60 for the prop shaft adapter alone.

If I read the description correctly, the CH kit includes the prop shaft, bolt etc.

I bought a couple kits for the McColluch 32 from them several years ago and they came with the Motor mount, the hub, the mounting bracket for the sensor and the electronic module with shielded plug wire for the amount you mentioned. Every thing was keyed to where I didn't have to use a degree wheel to put the timing in the right place.

The standard kit from CH includes the ignition module(non auto advance), prop adapter, pickup and instructions...no machining at all. You just need to know if you have a long shaft, short shaft, or the key way is in the shaft or cast into the flywheel.
The pickup and the adapter are marked and you just line up the marks and you're just about their, a 'lil' tweaking is all you need to have it just right..I set mine with the degree wheel that comes with the kit, motor didn't like it and had to reset it at the field. Loosen the hose clamp and rotate the pickup a few degrees and it was their..
You will need to buy a switch, battery pack, and a plug to solder on the battery lead for the module...Terry will be glad to sell you these also..

Whacker Engines in Fla. makes a kit for the motor mount that is the most complete I've seen... $18.00 plus shipping..includes bolts, mount, carb spacer and new gaskets..He's just started advertising on RCU or he can be found on E-Bay if you do a search for Ryobi.

$120 is an excellent deal, isn't it? That's why I don't run any of my conversions with the stock magneto. The CH kit does come with every thing you'd need to run the engine on the CH electronic ignition. The fixed timing system works fine with these low CR weedies. The optional Synchrospark doesn't add any more power, but it does allow the engine to idle lower and transition smoother. The included instructions are very clear on how to set up the timing, if you are not familiar with an ignition system of this type.

It does not include a muffler or motor mount, since everybody's requirement for those are different. Check with Terry at CH.

I need to say, had...Yesterday the "Great Turf God" got it and now it's a thing of the past..totaled everything... Sigh...:(

Reciever quit just after takeoff...Just don't know what happened...but a BIG concrete tank won...tore off cylinder, split the rod, pieces are still in the back of the truck..this was a crash worth taking pictures of to post...will post later as I pick out the pieces...
