Life of a converted engine

Hello Guys!

I have a OS 200 FS running with CDI on glow fuel. I'm planning to convert it to gas with a CH Ignition carburetor kit.
But I'm concerned with the engine life running with less oil, mainly with the rod without bearing.
What do you Guys have to say about it?

Thanks!

Luiz

When a glow engine is converted to gasoline, you really should use the same amount of oil as was in the glow fuel unless the rods and crank are converted to roller bearings. Some are using good synthetic oils at lower ratios, but it is risky. One lean run could ruin the engine.

Gasoline engines also run hotter than glow engines, so beware of that.

do you think that the Walbro will tune using a fuel with 16% / 18% of oil?

Yes, that should not be a problem unless you are using a very thick oil.

You might consider using the purple (mylar?) pump diaphragm instead of the tan (Kevlar?) one. The tan one is stiffer and does not pump as much fuel as the purple one. Wait, maybe you need the tan one to pump the more viscous fuel mix. Anyway, the idea is that you have two choices, just don't use the black one.
