Counter rotating engines

I got a couple ECHO PB-2400 engines off ebay the other day to convert for a twin. Is it possible to have one counter rotating? With this conversion I was planning to try the OS gas glow plug so ignition shouldn't be a problem. http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXEJRG&P=Z.

Thanks

With piston porting or reed valve induction, the engine should run either direction (remember the Cox reed valve engines?) depending on the ignition timing (either magneto or CDI) that will determine the running direction. If using the OS plug, it should run either way. The induction timing on a disc or crankshaft valved engine like most glow engines determines their direction of running, although some engines with a bolt on front cover can be reversed by rotating the front cover 90 degrees. Good luck with the OS plug. Report back here how it works for you.

It may not be worth the trouble when you start looking for props. Our models don't have as much P factor trouble like full scale.

I understand that the some of the P-38s in action in England in WWII did not have counter-rotating engines. The rational was fewer support issues if both engines were the same. Wonder how differently they flew from counter-rotating engine equipped planes?

I was thinking of building a SPAD type plane with twin engines like a P-38. I know its not actually necessary to have counter rotating props, but I figure why not try it if I'm making it up as I go?. Anyway I found a 17x6 posher prop from VVRC so I thought I'd give it a go.
I wasn't sure if the engines would run the same if I reversed one.
