That is great. I have similar lath and a 30cc Ryobi plus a 42cc Pulon (spelling???) mostly stripped down. I may have to give that a try.

First i advice you to learn how a lathe works and practice.
Then research in internet how a hub propeller is made in lathe. Read and practice a lot before convert any engine of yours. You you want we could Skype perhaps Best Regards Nuno from Portugal |
Be awhile before I am ready to try anything. I have a move cross country coming up in a few months.
Hubs used to be available for conversion. But not any more So if a person can learn to do it themselfs and have the tools, it just make sense. I will keep keep this in mind once moved. Thanks for the offer to Skype. I will post when I am ready to try something. Ken |
Looks and sounds great. I have a Stihl 4mix that is near done, main hangup is how to mount the cdi sensor/ Ive 3d printed various mounts but I dont like them. The area to mount it is awkward.

Here it is an explanation about timming these kind of engines and RXCEL type CDI`s Attachment 2266952 Note :RXCEL cdi has got programmed microprocessor that admites the timing be 28 degrees before TDC top dead centre |
No I have the timing all sorted out. Its mounting the sensor is the problem.

Once your engine is a 4Mix i realise that is a little bit awkward, but is possible look at the pictures in te links below ,please I searched on internet and you could take a look : https://www.rcgroups.com/forums/show...th-carb-issues https://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/eng...-ambition.html Regards Nuno https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rcu...6578eb29c6.jpg https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rcu...f3676db1d5.jpg https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rcu...1c05d7cba1.jpg https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rcu...9925c5df84.jpg https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rcu...fa7a017e25.jpg |
Dear Ken
Did you already started the conversion? Regards Nuno |
No. It has been a heck of year for every one.
Mom Died earlier this year. Wife and I were taking care of her. With her death now we are getting out of this state (Ca) as fast as we can. We decided that we needed a shell for our pick up, a Ford F250 Super Duty Delisle. But even used ones were to rich for our blood. So I built one. Long project, will prep and paint it next year after we are in Kansas. As soon as I got the shell finished, had to get packed up, all but what we absolutely needed out or will take in our Travel trailer (27'). Still have not packed all of the tools, but that should not take much time. And then get the house ready for sale. Well the house is basically sold, just waiting for escrow to close. A friend from church will drive the moving van and we our truck and trailer. We will end up traveling in the dead of winter, but no choice in the matter. Will go the southern rout but will still have to be carful, and run with the trailers plumbing drained to avoid freeze busted pipes and tanks. In all honesty I doubt I will have much time this year for planes. Will be getting settled in. We hope to be in the country and and have just enough land to raise chickens for eggs and meat, also rabbits for meat, and a couple of goats. Add getting my shop set up again. Going to be a busy year for us. But then maybe next year I can get back into things for enjoyment. Got several planes to finish. A big plane project to start, gotta start the new plane now that I bought the plans and an engine for it (before mom passed), plus fiberglass cowl, wheel pants, canopy. A 1/3 scale Pitts Special, Engine is a 60cc twin DLE. So will most assuredly be getting in some real shop time at some point. I have a lot of bits for the metal lathe. Need to get a few more items for it. But am really looking forward to making metal shavings. I hope you don't mind that I posted a few pics of the shell I talked about above. It really was a fun project. I have 2 new permanent scars now, but still have all digits etc. Ken https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rcu...f856553f6d.jpg Before the windows were installed. A test fit on the truck. It fits. https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rcu...0e7b461a38.jpg I use gussets a lot on my planes, almost 100% a scratch builder. It carried over to the shell https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rcu...eddbbfc835.jpg Windows installed and lift gate hard ware working. But will need to revisit the lift struts, my geometry is not exactly correct, but functional for now. https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rcu...68d3a1052c.jpg Inside looking out |
Dear Ken
Life is all about it ... Dont give up and carry on ,my friend Perhaps you could apply some of your wood knowledge to the plains .. Very good in deed Regards Nuno |
