homelite question

:(I ran into some trouble today with my convrsion and was wondering if anyone out there can help. I was replacing my carb today on my homelite when the extension plate for that mates the carb to the motor broke. Does anyone know where I could get that plastic piece from?.

How is it broke? you might be able to salvage it. CA glue will bond that type of material VERY well. Use medium or thick CA. I know of a guy that has a millimg machine and shaved it in half. Does it have a large chiped corner, broke in half through its bore or what? dont toss it yet. Piper

RE: homelite question

do not overtighten, drop, or mutilate!:) I have a used engine and the spacer had a crack, used thin CA thinking it would penetrate well. Engine runs, time will tell.

Well I am trying 2 ton epoxy on it and if it doesn't work I will buy another, we will see.

It has two bolts coming out of it and I guess when I tighten it the bolt head turned and split the housing, yes it does have a tab on the end towards the prop which also broke.

Hi
Just when you CA the plate, make sure your clean it up real good .Fues contents oil and it might prevent a good adhesion.

RE: homelite question

bolt heads on mine are retained in hex recesses and do not rotate. The smallest air leak and the @##@$ thing will not run right. When say split, is that a hairline crack or a split into 2 pieces?

RE: homelite question

That is 2 separate pieces.

:(:( Not good news. Good Luck and start looking to a back-up or new one.:(
May be a good time to start thinking about how the linkage will connect to your servo. a modified plate may give you a better connect angle.

http://www.carrprecision.com/Pages/prod02.htm check out Carr, they sell a "twister" manafold for the trimmer engines that allows a straite shot for the throttle pushrod. I havent bought one but since you need one might as well buy one that works better for R/C than the stock one. Its $15 and fits the homelite fine. Piper

RCign1 also makes them. Ralph's sounds like it's better than the stock block.

I also have the intake that will rotate the carb so the throttle is inline with the firewall. I sell them for $8.50

Check out my website www.Scottbaldridgeconversions.com It is new so it is not complete so check back often
