I've ran alot of gassers including Ryobi's and there all the same.Go thru the basic checklist. #1 is it getting spark? please don't assume actually check it. #2When you put your finger over the carb. inlet while turning engine over does it draw fuel? #3 Is there compression? #4 If all this passes your inspection Check the plug and then finally remove flywheel and check that the key is'nt damaged or missing. One last thing you could be floding it although the gassers like to start a little on the wet side. By the way are you trying to hand start it? You will likely never be successfull unless you use a starter at least until it's warmed up plus you have to spin that flywheel at approx 600+ rpm to get the mag to fire, not easy to do by hand.

well found out the major problem, crappy fuel
got a new gallon and oil and it kinda runs for a sec then quits, the fuel tank might be too low
what else could it be?

p.s. my electric starter needed a rest (me too) so ill try working on it tommorow if i'm not gettting ready to shoot a deer

Fuel tank position shouldn't make a difference. I had the same problems with a Ryobi. I tried everything but couldn't get it to run consistantly. I even opened up the reed valve a little. I did notice that the spark was not consistant. I removed the plug and held it against the engine and flipped to see if there was a spark.. sometimes there was and sometimes not. It drove me crazy because it ran well when it was still a weedeater. I finally gave up on it. I stick with Homelites now.

You might check your spark. Maybe it needs a different coil.

Try a new plug, the plug may not be fireing while under compression.

You probably can't spin this engine even without plug in consistently at 600 rpm or more without electric starter Hence erattic spark.Do yourself a favor get a new plug and for heavens sake clean that carb. theres plenty of resources avail. on net for doing that.Trust me it's simple and that alone will cause a host of probs.[&:]

yup found the problem, i think the fuel bulb primer has a vacuum problem so i took it off and it runs like a champ!!

crazy powerfull, it makes the blades flex at full throt. with a 18x6 and was blowing things around in my gardge

then i got the idea to see it i could make it a pusher instead, so i took the key out and move the flywheel to the other direction (about the same distance that it was at TDS with the key) and put the prop on backwards, heh that was cool, and it worked like a charm even with out the key

if only i could balance the stupid fly wheel maybe it would kill some of the vibes
