Homelite 45
 

In my quest to put the correct size engine on my 1/7 p-47 I am looking at going up a notch from the Ryobi 31 to a Homelite 45. I spoke to the guy at Wacker Engines and he sent me a picture and said to be sure that it looked the same. I am assuming that some of the Homelite 45 CC engines are differant? I am also assuming that the differance is that some of them have a shaft that stick out from either end which would prevent me from using the mount that he sells.

I need to find out what kind of Homelite products have the engine that will fit the Wacker Mounts. Harbor Freight has 45CC chainsaws but they look like they might have the double shaft since the pull start is on the opposite side from the chain bar. PLEASE HELP ME .

Almost all chain saws have double ended shafts. The weed whackers with the pull start on the cutter side of the engine are single ended or whats called a cantilevered crank.

There are like 3 different minor variations in the Homelight 45.

Typically people saw off the back end of the crank.

The Homelight 45 mounts to the motor mount along the sides (Usually using the Hanger 9 Ultra Stick mount). The Homelite 25 weed whacker has a motor mount adapter plate that bolts to the back of the engine block.

The Homelite 33 through 45 current production chain saw engines all look very much alike. To the inexperienced person, the Polans in these size ranges also look a lot like the Homelites.

Check out the above link, they have conversion kits as well as instruction on cutting the shaft extension.

Thanks for the Web site that is great information, I'm going to try the 31 cc first and then upgrade if needed.
