Homelite Versus Poulan

The Home Depot I work at is selling both the Homelite and Poulan 33cc chainsaws for $99.00.

Anyone converted both for airplane use?

Which one is better/easier for a first-try conversion? I would like to put the converted engine on a Balsa USA DVIII project.

RE: Homelite Versus Poulan

Hi friend
Poulan has the coil bolted in the plastic case, when you dissasemble the chain saw you can“t start the engine, but you can use an electronic ignition system, Homelite can work with the magneto because it is bolted directly to the engine.
I have both flying and are very nice engines.

Thanks Platero for the reply. Looks like the Homelite would be the easiest for a first-time conversion. Will give it a try!
