Shindawa Engines
I have a nephew who owns a landscape service and saves all of the non-servicable weed whackers and blowers for me. Recently I picked up several shindawa T23 and T26 engines from him. I have Stihls, Echos, Homelites, Poulans and McCullochs, but never had a Shindawa. He also gave me a 32cc Huskaverna. Has anyone had any experience with the Shindawa? Any info would be appreiated.

RE: Shindawa Engines
There are better engines than any of the others you listed in my opinion.

RE: Shindawa Engines
hey, i just picked up a shindaiwa with dual rings. it weighs less than an echco or homy. where did you find the numbers.im curius on the ccs of mine but dont know how to figure it out.
|
RE: Shindawa Engines
only one way to find out, start cutting that shindaiwa, Have a saw book here with cc/model numbers listed.
|
RE: Shindawa Engines
well, down to the bare bones and still no numbers.says shindaiwa P on jug.,af57 on flywheel, zama carb-h18-24p,3 bolt case with 4 bolt starter.says R18 on inside of rear case.thats all i can find for now, where should the numbers be at.

RE: Shindawa Engines
model number from the saw case or pull start housing. if not available it is easy to
measure the bore and stroke to get the cc size. http://grapevine.abe.msstate.edu/~ft.../cylinder.html |
RE: Shindawa Engines
dont have case or pull start. have to do it the other way. called shinds home office and they gave me the phone nos of repair shops, these nos were the same ones for kioritz engines. thanks.

RE: Shindawa Engines
try a popsicle stick in the exhaust port, pinch it with the piston. that will get a ballpark bore figure.
|
RE: Shindawa Engines
doing it that way its a 30mil borex30mil stroke. or 1-3/16 x 1-3/16.ill go to that web site you posted and see what i get.dont you have to have 3 figures though.

RE: Shindawa Engines
perhaps a 21cc engine?
|
RE: Shindawa Engines
at a guess i was thinking around 18-21, its about the size of an echo. i was hoping for a 23-25 because of its size and weight.i might convert it anyway just for the heck of it. thanks for the help.

RE: Shindawa Engines
how about a trimmer mod number eb-240

RE: Shindawa Engines
Buck,
Area of a circle (Pi) X (radius squared) Area of a cylinder = area of circle X height Pi is 3.14(rounded down) Your radius is 15mm. Your height(stroke) is 30mm. 3.14(pi) X (15(radius) X 15(radius)) = 706.5 square mm X 30mm(stroke) = 21195 cubic mm. Since there are 10mm in 1cm, then this engine is 21.195cc(from your popsicle measurements. |
RE: Shindawa Engines
thanks a lot, i wrote all this down for future reference.i think ill keep looking for a shindaiwa 25 to convert instead. unless i hear some results from somone who has converted one of these to compare it to a g23. thanks again.

RE: Shindawa Engines
buck1856 I have the same engine you are talking about and mine is only 24 oz. I think it woud be a great little engine for something in the 9 lb. range.
