Fuel Injection Source

Hi,

I am working my way through the various discussions on engine conversions as I try and finalize a decision.

I was wondering if there is a source for fuel injection systems comparable to CH as a source for electronic ignition systems OR if there exists a product-specific fuel injection system that would determine my choice of engine to convert.

Comments, suggestions and directions are greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Rgds,

RE: Fuel Injection Source

These systems are not cost effective at this point.

OS makes two or three different glow engines with a computerized closed loop fuel injection system on them that works very much like a car does. They have a oxygen sensor or rather a exhaust gas temperature prob in the exhaust pipe that controls the mixture. There is a way to adjust the mixture from the ground if you have another channel in your radio. Computer controlled automobile engines will control the mixture, the ignition timing, and the idle speed with self adjusting algorythms.

To set up the algorythm on the OS, you can set the HS mixture and then the LS mixture in the air. it then works as a closed loop mixture control system. Anyway, this is what I read somewhere. Alcohol fuels are more sensitive to the ambient pressure altitude than gas is.

Like I said, the system is not cost effective unless you are a pattern man. $600 and it's yours. Needless to say, I don't own or even need one.

As far as Gas engines go, the Walbro and Zama carbs have been very satisfactory. They have a fuel pump, and balanced zero regulator that compensates for altitude. They do a very good job and run in any position.

Enjoy,

Jim

also, without having an engine designed for it, you are either stuck with throttle body fuel injection or extensive remanufacturing of the head.
