Conversion

Can someone tell me how a OS, Enya, or Saito 4 stroke would compare to one of the big Gas engines? I have a airplane that calls for a 40cc gas engine and was wandering what size Nitro 4 stroke would be compareable in power. Are they dirctly compareable? Say the OS 240 Gemini.

Thanks
Doug

RE: Conversion

They are pretty close in power but the gas engine is more cost effective unless you already have the Gemini.

Enjoy,

Jim

RE: Conversion

I am getting into gas as we speak so take this with a grain of salt... But doing the conversion isn't a 240 FS comparable 160 2-stroke powerwise?? 40cc = 2.44 ci Now you would need a 2.44 or so 2 cycle glow angine (if they make them) or like a 4 ci 4-stroke (if they make them)... If you can afford the engine/fuel go for it... I am personnaly switching to gas to turn my $2-3.00 methanol flights into $.30 unleaded flights... A 60-70$ Homelite chainsaw and some parts from wackerengines.com and you have a gas engine for $150.00 or less... I don't think you can beat it... Plus I know when I started R/C the guys with a big plane and a gas engine were "cool" :D Am I out to lunch with my conversions?
