NEED ARF "CONVERSION" PLANE...
Hi everyone,
My brother, at 45 years old and while going through a breakup/divorce, went back to college and got himself a teaching degree! He is about to graduate and I would like to get/make him a really great gift. I don't have a lot of money, nor time, so I'm asking you all if you know of any really reasonably priced ARF's to recommend. I would like something with around 1200 square inches of wing area or so, with a shoulder, mid, or low wing. I have some engines, and a radio I can throw in it; just need to find a reasonably priced ARF type plane. He is just past being a beginner flier, so I don't want anything hot like a 3D ship nor an all out aerobat. Something "Stickish" would be fine. Any sales going on that I haven't heard about??? Anyone have something decent to sell cheap? Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Thanks, AV8TOR |

introing a 90" ARF in a couple of months. Great with a weedie. We have been using the Road Runner for years as an engine test bed. |
RE: NEED ARF "CONVERSION" PLANE...
Looks like the ticket alright, if you are able to keep the price down on the ARF. That's kind of hard without some third world connections for the labor I believe!
I sent you an e-mail through the website. Thanks, AV8TOR |
RE: NEED ARF "CONVERSION" PLANE...
AV8TOR: I was kinda hoping you got more replies....so I could pick up one of the planes for myself. Good luck in your search and keep up the good work. Capt,n........West Mi:D

RE: NEED ARF "CONVERSION" PLANE...
I was hoping to see more replies too. I have heard the stinger 120 is a nice flying airplane, I think it would do OK with a Homelite. I am speaking of the ARF, this is one of just a few cases were the ARF version is actually much much better than the kit. Does Dynaflite make an ARF Decathlon? I heard they did, but I can't find it.

RE: NEED ARF "CONVERSION" PLANE...
Hi,
I also was hoping for more responses and ideas. It seems that there is somewhat of a "hole" in the market for a reasonably priced ARF type plane that would be good for smallish gassers like 25 to 35cc. I'll keep looking... and hoping! Thanks, AV8TOR |
RE: NEED ARF "CONVERSION" PLANE...
Well I guess I'll chime in, I bought the hanger 9 Super Cub off ebay nib for $320+ $40 shipping. Ive got it up on its legs now with a ryobi 31cc hanging on the nose ready to run but am still needing to install the servos in the fuse, all other work is done. This ARF IMO is CHEAP as compared to my balsa USA Cub. $170 for kit-$75 for covering-$25 for all the glues and another $45 for hardware tank and wheels.... $315!!!!! Heck I dont even have it built yet! I like to build but buying and ARF nowadays is very nice given the quality. For the time savings it cost me $45 and that is CHEAP by anyones standards for a 1/4 scale model. I'm not even sure I would have taken the time to do as good a job myself on this one as Hanger 9 did on the Super Cub I received.

Hi av8tor1977 this is your buddy aero nut from the gas engine without ignition and glo plug. I am reading this thread and at the time I am building some airplanes for sale, the model is the RYAN'S REBEL (see picture) it flys real good with a ryobi 31 can do acrobatics with it but it's
also stable as a trainer, perfect for a new "convert" I plan to offer these airplanes as an ARF with a new converted RYOBI 31and engine mount included for $300.00 plus shipping. let me know if you or some else is interested on this deal you can contact me through my e-mail [email protected] or through this thread. The airplane is made of lite ply/balsa/foam core wings and is covered with vinyl material it has a wing span of 80 inches and it measures 68 inches from the tip of the spinner to the tip of the rudder, the final flying weigth with the ryobi engine is about 11.5-12 lbs and the wing loading comes to about 25oz/sq ft. So here are the pictures. By the way this is the one I am flying. |
RE: NEED ARF "CONVERSION" PLANE...

I've built one with a Homie 30cc. Excellent candidate for a conversion gasser. I have another one NIB for $250 - email me if you are interested.

RE: NEED ARF "CONVERSION" PLANE...
Thanks, but I'm looking for something a little more aerobatic. He likes Stick type models, and low wingers.
Appreciate the info and offer. Take care, AV8TOR |

RE: NEED ARF "CONVERSION" PLANE...
Aero Nut,
Are you still offering the Ryan's Rebel ARF with Ryobi 31 for $300? Let me know. Thanks, Sedleniek |
RE: NEED ARF "CONVERSION" PLANE...
Hi sedleniek! Yes I am still offering the Ryans Rebel with the converted and mounted Ryobi 31 for $300.00 the only thing is that you will have to pay for the shipping and handling costs, I don't know how much it will be, but you can ask av8tor1977 for references about the plane, the plane is covered with your choice of colors and scheme (custom covered) and it will take me from 2-3 weeks for delivery upon placement of the order. you could send a P.M. (private message) to discuss details or you could call me at (619) 250-5983 8:00 - 5:00 pm Pacific time I will try to send you some snap shots of the one I built for av8tor1977's brother.
The correct e-mail address is [email protected]. hope to hear from you soon. |
RE: NEED ARF "CONVERSION" PLANE...
A Decathalon is as aerobatic as a stick but looks a lot better IMHO.
|
RE: NEED ARF "CONVERSION" PLANE...
AV8TOR'
How did The Ryan's Rebel from Aero Nut turn out? What were the shipping and handling costs? Are you satisfied with the overall quality and performance? Any other comments would be appreciated. Thanks, Sedleniek |
RE: NEED ARF "CONVERSION" PLANE...
Hi,
I can't report on the performance as we haven't flown it yet. It's size and weight suggest very good performance however. As for the product and the service, we were extremely pleased! aeronut does a fine job and I can definitely recommend him and his product(s). Shipping will depend on where, etc. It ran around $40.00 from his location to southeastern Arizona. The packing job was superb. I don't know how he can sell this airplane for the price he does, if he counts his labor for anything at all. If you are interested in this particular plane, I can recommend him without hesitation. Good luck, AV8TOR |
RE: NEED ARF "CONVERSION" PLANE...
Thank's for your recommendation av8tor, How is your bother's project going on, almost ready?
|
RE: NEED ARF "CONVERSION" PLANE...
aero nut,
Can you post some pictures of av8tor's plane? Thanks, Sedleniek |
