Komatsu-Zenoa CZ 25N
 

I just finished stripping this trimmer to see the engine. It is quite different than any trimmer engine that I have seen. The carb has no adjustment and two venturies. The top venturi is split in the carb mounting block and goes to a fitting on the front and rear transfer port channels. The bottom venturi feeds a standard cylinder port, but the opening is much smaller. the coompression is good, as are the bearings. It has a two ring piston.

Since I have about 10 engines in my conversion backlog, I don't think that I want to mess with this one. If anyone is interested in trying to make something out of it, you can have it for the shipping cost.

Don't write that one off so quickly. The cylinder and carb look very similiar to the Toro 25 that I did recently. I removed the reed valves from the transfer ports and made a flat aluminum plate as a replacement. Make a carb adapter so you can put a normal carb on it (WA 167) and the rest is just normal weedeater conversion. I've just got 10 flights on the Toro, but it's looking like a very good engine, easy hand starts. I'll post pictures and do a report on it when I get a little more run time on it to get it broken-in a little (if the wind ever quits blowing up here)

You were correct about the reed valves in the transfer port channels, however it looks to me that the cylinder port would have to be enlarged some. It is really very small.

nice strato-charge engine, I always wondered what one would look like stripped down:D.
