Adjusting a Ryobi 31cc carb

Where can I get information on this? Thanks

Start with both needles out 1.5 turns. Then make small adjustments.....like 1/8 of a turn......from there adjust the low end to where it transitions to full throttle well, then worry about the high end. Remember, a little adjustment goes a long way.

Good luck,
Tom

Ok, but I don't see the two needles. I'm familier with 2 & 4 stroke glow engines but not these. All I see is the idle adjustment screw. There is some kind of plastic (red & white) things sticking up and what appears to be side plate screws.

I think you are seeing the restrictor mechanism that are on some carbs. Take a needle nose and pull the red and white assembly off of the carb. Under this, should be your low and high end needles. The other idle screw you mentioned sounds like the idle stop screw. This too can be removed if you like since you will need the butterfly to close fully anyway.

Hope this helps,
Tom

I am in the same situation as (haras) I have removed the butterfly restrictor assembly but I do not see the high and low end carb adjustment screws. My conversion is complete but the engine must be tuned- the conversion instructions simply say to adjust them- Nothing on how to find them..

Does anyone have any pictures of these screws- PLEASE!!!!!!

I am not refering to the butterfly restrictor. There is a plastic assembly that covers the two needles. Check it out!

You may have a one needle carb. I have seen some of these on Ryobis.

If you can't find them, I can include some pics for you to look at. Maybe we are talking about different things. A picture may be worth 1000 words.

Mine appears to be a one needle setup-

Pull off the white plastic limitors from around the needle (needles). The other needle may be under there. Many strange things have been done in regard to the environment and such on these little carbs. If a needle is under there, it is possible that it is adjusted at the factory and not intended to be adjusted again by the user. Pull that thing off and see what comes up!

Go to the local saw shop. get a used WA or WT Walbro carb with a 7/16 throat size and two needles, put a kit in it and head for the races.:D

I agree with flypaper. Just scrap that carb and get another.....don't pay too much, they can be found cheap with a little research.

All the advise is good. I would remove the black and white plastic limiters. Once removed hopefully you will fine two needles with slots. Some just have one adjust needle in that case get another carb Possibly a WT-167 .43" or 11.11 mm venturi
