Ryobi 31cc w/electronic ignition

Anyone know anything about this conversion on this trimmer ? I notice it has electronic ignition. Price is right.

ringram2077,

You can't go wrong for $59, but don't get too excited about the "solid state ignition". The engine still uses a flywheel / magneto ignition, not electronic / battery operated. Not trying to dampen your enthusiasm, these are great buys and conversion parts are readily available at reasonable prices.

If you are going to strip the engine out and junk the rest of the weedwacker, get the curved shaft version instead. HF has that one on sale all the time for $49.

The one shown from HF for $59.00... Is that the "Ryobi" with the Homelite 30cc engine, or with a Ryobi 31cc engine??

Thanks,
AV8TOR

Thanks for the info. Looks like the cheaper $49 trimmer is the way to go. The engine is described as 31cc so I assume it is the Ryobi 31cc and not the Homelite.

I think this is the one you want. http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/cta...emnumber=55008

If you look at most of the pictures (not that they always get the pictures right) you can see that the homlite models have carbs on the side of the body. You can see the air cleaner.

I am pretty sure that the 700R types are all Ryobi design engines.

I also noticed while at Lowes the other day; new Toro (I think) brand wackers that have Ryobi 31cc motors. ;) I think they were $59 for the cheapest model.
