Homelite 30cc throttle linkage problem

Ran into a problem hooking up the throttle linkage on a Homelite 30CC engine. I believe the engine came from a Weedeater and the linkage operates up and down and not back and forward.

The pictures are with the plane on its side.

The engine does not appear to be a weed eater type Homlite.

On my '30', I mounted a 90 degree bellcrank under the carb to change the direction. I had a short ball link set up between the carb and the bellcrank.
