Yup.A few years ago I ran across one at a Zellers store up here in Canada.First time I'd ever seen one.It got me curious and I picked it up off the shelf to have a closer look at it.The one that I was looking at was 31cc and was just a rebadged Ryobi weed wacker. It was exactly identical in every way except for the decals.

The story behind the Singer brand name needs no explanation really as everyone has heard of Singer sewing machines.A few years back, the Singer company and all trademarks were sold to a company in Hong Kong who basically wanted just the name rights as it is basically a well known household name and was well respected for its quality sewing products. They took the Singer name and started marketing everything else under the sun from A-Z.I've seen clock radio's,juice makers, weed trimmers, nose hair trimmers, etc using the Singer brand name.I've only ever seen the Singer weed wacker once in this one store and I haven't seen one since. If the price is comparable to that of a Ryobi 31cc or cheaper,I'd go for it (especially if you can get it for a song).

My advice to you is to take a look at a Ryobi 31cc and see if it looks like your particular weed wacker. If it does, parts are readily available from places like Jagg,Carr Precision or Peter J Faith at Wacker Engines.Lots of guy's have converted the Ryobi 31 over the years and are very sucessfully using it in our hobby. Here's a quick website reference to help give you some idea as to what a converted Ryobi lokks like when your done.Hope this helps you out some.Best of luck to you in your conversion endeavours!;)

Great! That was the information I was looking for. I know there couldn't be too many manufacturers of trimmers out there. Thought it was just a re-labeld machine. Sort of like all the YTD machines. thanks for you guys help.
