Sensor mounting

A view of front engine sensor attachment for Mike..
Most engines have a round casting in front where a ring can be pressed on with the sensor in it, ..There is a corresponding ring either made as part of a new hub or pressed on the existing hub, as in the G23/26..The magnet is embedded in the outer part of the ring on the hub...5 minute expoxy and a press fit hold it in...The two rings are less than 1/16" apart, I usually use .020 with the weak ceramic magnets I had..I found some new square rear earth magnets, way stronger, so the gap can be more..If there's no round casting on the front of the engine I make a right angle bracket, held on with one of the case bolts or a tapped hole in the case. You can barely see one in the lower part of the case on the left hand engine..
Timing is set when the hub is put on the taper..

RE: Sensor mounting

Ralph, Thanks again for taking the time to share your knowledge. My next sensor mount will be less time consuming due to your assist in simplifying my routine. Now if I were to find a lathe under the tree 'out in shop'........ Merry Christmas
