RE: ryobi-will not start
The problem is resolved and there is a good lesson to learn from it.
A few weeks back, I did have a problem with how the carb was mounted and the engine would not start. Before that was fixed I purchased a 19.2 volt cordless drill from Sears and Miller giant cup from Tower instead of sticking with my starting system. While I did fix the carb problem, it turns out that the cordless drill was not turning the prop fast enough. On a lark, I went back to my cheapo starter (with a silicon plumbing fitting clamped to the outside of the cup to fill over my 3" spinner). One crank with that and pop, pop, pop. She started right up. Had I fixed the carb issue before I changed my starting system (and spent $150) I would have figured this out 2 weekends ago. Thanks for everyone's help. |
RE: ryobi-will not start
You said earlier that the drill seemed to spin the engine faster than the starter. I know it may sound stupid but did you have the drill on reverse. I.E. were you spinning the engine the right way. My ryobi always seens to start fine by hand.

RE: ryobi-will not start
John-
I did have the drill on reverse-but it is a good point to remember. I've found that the cheapo started powered by 16 nicad cells give me the punch I need to get it started. Thanks, SB |
