1oz. electronic ign. for $1

I was at the gas engine forum on a piezo ignition and had a thought that I could make a ignition out of a electronic cigarette lighter hooked to a roller cam for ignition. I bet it would work. Any thoughts? it bet it would weigh less than an ounce dont ya think?

The question is, how do you get the piezo spark mechanics inside the combustion chamber in place of the traditional spark plug ????

could work on reg spark plug with small gap and slow turming
stationnary engines
some old time stationnary engines ( hit and miss types )
used a xtal pile hit by a rod hammer tripped by a governor controled trip bar operated from a cam
no high speed would be possible

I was thinking about this and what about hooked up to a four stroker like a honda turning 5000 rpm hooked up to the cam somehow, because it is set at a 2 to 1 gear so it will fire 2500 times at 5000 rpm. The other piezo ign. works at 5000 prm.

has to be tried, how durable it would be ????
the igniter from a BBQ is bigger and produces a fatter spark
I rebuilt a few old stationnary engines and the fish paper or mica insulator was the most comon culprit dampness would get in there.
the spark is not as strong as a kettering ing. type and could be a bear to start at times
I have my doughts as to be able to get the trigger going that fast
good luck.
it has been in the back of my mind for a while
I am gettiong a milling attatchment for my lathe hummmmm.
could be a trial project ????
