Is this a 23.6cc Echo engine?

Fellas, I'm only looking for your Identification of the pictured engine and if you would consider the 21.2 to 23.6 cc to be comparable if they were identical in condition. If you feel like comments as to what might be equitable please comment. I have no experience deal with internet purchases, all my engines have been bought 2nd hand locally in the power equipment.

I purchased it here on RCU. Item ID: 74783 converted Echo SRM2400 Trimmer Engine (copied from RCU files)

My good rating of Seller was changed today to following:
Communication has been good with Seller to point of this discovery. (Head was pulled to order Bowman rings and needed to determine where the ring pin was positioned in groove.) I trust this will get resolved. To make this engine the same as advertised will require new head, piston, and rings.

Rebuttal today from echo:
........he (Buyer) had some comments I don't exactly recall about the model trimmer the the engine came from I had made an error in the description. I said it was an engine from an echo 2401 model and it should have read 2410. Now this gentle man was informed of that mistake which actually did not change the displacement figures. I had not had the engine apart because it did not need any internal work. I just removed all the hardware that did not pertain to an airplane engine, made it airplane ready and adveritsed it as an echo 24cc engine. I read his complaint and will not accept it as legimate. I am sorry that this has happened but I think that with all the dodgeing around that was done I do not know what is expected of me or how I should approach this matter. But most of all I am not going to make any restitutions of any kind. I feel that I was more than concerned with all my communications with this person that some thing bad was going to come of this fiasco. Bold highligths are mine.

I base my comments on the tecnical data supplied by the manufacture. The parts manual for the Echo 2400 -2410 are available here: Type in : SRM-2400 or SRM-2410 for 23.6cc . For comparison SRM-2100 displays the 21.2cc.

Did I get materially what was advertised?

Hopefully some 3rd party comments may help both the Seller and the Buyer.
Thanks

the 21.2 has a 32.2mm bore while the 23.6 is 34mm. how they compare power wise depends on what model the 23.6 is, but seeing that it has a single ring i'm inclined to to think it is of the newer, less powerful variety...some pics of the ports/passages in the jug would be useful for someone in the know to give you a positive ID.

Zagnut: For clarification the engine delivered has a bore of 1.267" which makes me think it is not a 23.6cc per my calipers. I could not locate any 23.6 cc with this bore or listed with a single ring piston. Any further pics will have to wait as engine is back together (less) until I return from vacotion. But I will be checking in peridically.

1.267" is 32.2mm fer sure. you may also be right about the rings, have seen both 1 and 2 ringed 21.2cc but would imagine that the 23.6 should have 2 as it's mainly used in the higher end equipment.

never seen a 23.6 myself but from all the drawings on the echo site they appear to be identical on the exterior...at least the engine in your pics IS identical to the 21.2s i know
