Identify this Mac engine
 

I picked this up from the scrap bin of the local small engine shop along with 3 Poulan 46cc and a Homelite 45cc. I am not sure of what it is since there was not much saw left around it. It is about the same size as the Homey and Poulan. It looks like it would be a good conversion. I would like to know the cc on it without having to do the measurements. Any of you guys seen one like it before?

Hi,
It looks like you have a McCulloch 38cc chain saw engine with needle bearings. Here is a picture of a conversion by Scott E.

I have one i am doing at the moment i will take some pics and put them up for you
they run needle bearings which is a pain but there is room in them for thrust bearing when i find the right size i will post the number for you

opps i see i was wrong the engine you are showing there has the intake on a different side than mine

Hi Jetsky,
The Mac above is a 38cc. The one that you have I think is a 33cc like mine. Here is a picture of mine. I has the front carb. It doesn't have brass spacers like my Homelite XL 26cc. The thrust bearing issue is what I am working on with both these engines. I think that the 33cc would fit a GB Ultrimate and at 3 and !/2 pounds ready to fly it would be light too. It has needles bearings at both ends of the con rod. My XL 26cc has a plain bearing on the small end of the rod. Lets keep this thread going with progress on the Mac's.

yeah its like yours but it has a straight carb on it
not angled up
it is a 39cc i think i worked it out to be
i will post some pics when i get it back home
i am working on it at work
