husqvarna 345 conversion
 

Has anyone coverted a Husqvarna 345 (45cc) chainsaw motor?

Hi Tankie,
Most of the Husky conversions that I have Seen in the states have a bolt on cylinder. It looks like your 345 would make a easy conversion since it doesn't have to be cut from the chasis. I beleive that first place uses Husqvarna cylinders in some of their engines. It should have good power.

It's going into my Airtruck to replace the ryobi 31cc. The ryobi seems too small for this model now plus I need to add about 3lbs of lead to the front to balance it. So that weight may as well be in the form of a bigger/heavier engine with lees lead to add.
The engine is brand new. Someone purchased it and used it once then ran it over by accident with a ute crushing the pull start and few other things so it was an insurance write off. Local repair shop got it from the insurance company for the engine which is fine and not broken in yet. Got it for $250NZ.
the bottom half of the crankcase is plastic and needs to be cut from the body of the saw and the coil is mounted off to the side of the cylinder but a bracket can be made for it or fit a CH ign.

Hi,
250NZ is $173USD. Stuff cost more down under I guess. It should be a good match once you get it converted. It doesn't seem like the extra weight of a mag would hurt that plane. You could save some money by using a magnito. Nice job.
