cdi timing question/
Hello
I have a simple question about the standard stock two pole magneto cdi. I want to know what the factory set timing is on an engine. My question is when does the module fire? Is it when the last retreating magnet goes past the first pole or at some other point? The engine is a pouland 25cc and I suspect by the way it starts so easy it is set pretty low maybe at 12 degree BTDC. If someone would please explain when the spark is generated I can go from there to the current timing and how to bring it up to 27 degree BTDC which works great with my CDI system which I am building. Thanks Dan |
RE: cdi timing question/
Put a inductive pick up timing light on it and see where it fires. You can shine the light right on the coil/flywheel area and see the magnets like they were standing still.

RE: cdi timing question/
How do you get your timing light to fire with CDI? I haven't had any luck, using common ground etc.....

RE: cdi timing question/
Use a seperate battery for timing light supply and connect the engine frame to neg of battery Good luck, red
