What engine is this?
1 Attachment(s)
I just bought a plane from a swap meet that came with a gas engine. I'm pretty sure it is a conversion engine but I'm not sure what it is. I was told it was a 30cc. I have attached some pictures.
Here are the questions I have aside from the identification: In the picture of the carb - I assume one needle is low-end and one is high-end. Am I right? Which is which? There is a fuel nipple next to the needles and another on the opposite side of the carb. Is the nipple next to the needles the fuel inlet? Is the opposite side a pressure tap? The muffler that came with the engine does not fit. It is a Bennet muffler. Any ideas what it does fit? Where can I get a muffler for this engine? Aside from those are there any general tips on starting and running this engine? This is my first gasoline engine so I'm really in the dark here. Thanks for your help! Keith |
RE: What engine is this?
It's a Ryobi 31
You are correct about the needle. One towards the air inlet should have a "H" on it. It is your high speed needle. One of the fuel nipples is a return line. Without one of those "Bulb" pumps in the return circuit, the nipple will suck air. You need to close it off with a piece of tygon fuel line and a plug. The fuel nipple next to the needle valves is the return. The muffler is not for a Ryobi. Bennett should have a muffler to fit? If not try Jag Engines or Carr Precision. |
RE: What engine is this?
Muffler looks like its for a Sachs 2.4

RE: What engine is this?

i just converted a ryobi and i have found that they can easily be started by hand or with an electric starter, if you are in to hand propping then check out my thread in the gas engine, "engine conversions" forum, the title is "hand starting a ryobi" |
