Identify This Weedie Conversion Please

Hello All,

I believe this is a Poulan 42. I'm not sure.

Any suggestions as to what this is?

Cheers,

Marcus

Looks more like a 46 to me. The set screw on the side of the intake adapter makes me think that. Hmmm.

Thanks for the info about this engine....

I've advanced, and then retarded the timing from the ideal settings, and then set the timing to achieve peak RPM. Then I peaked the RPM by adjusting the "high" needle valve, and the performance I get is...... 5880 rpm from a 20X10 JXF propellor, and only 6460 rpm form an 18X10 Classic Master Airscrew!

That seems to be a disappointing.

What type of performance figures should I be getting?

Cheers,

Marcus.

For what it is worth on a 25cc engine I see a 500-RPM difference between a Classic MA prop and a K series MA prop. Both are 16x8. The k series turns more RPM.

I don’t have a 42 but on a 57cc engine run a 20x6 and a 20x8. You might be over propping.

Hi Marcus,
I have a 40cc Poulan that looks very much like yours. It has the mounts for the coil cast on the cylinder and the bottom cover has the same part number etc. This being said, I think that you are over proping the engine. Maybe a little less pitch would be better.
