RE: does ryobi have to be converted to electronic ignition?

ORIGINAL: moparcolt

I strapped this motor to a test stand and ran it for the first time a couple of weeks ago. It ran good with a 16x8 prop (7000rpm) on it I was running it on 32 to 1 ratio I think it will run a bit faster with a 50 to 1 ratio. NOW I JUST NEED SOMETHING TO MOUNT IT TO. are there any 3D planes out there that I could strap a ryobi 31 to?

Chris
Running the oil ratio leaner to try and get more RPM is the worse thing you can do to it. You'll not gain much in the way of performance, but your risking killing the engine. Run it at 32:1 or 40:1 and be happy. If your fouling plugs, then your needles aren't adjusted properly.

3D with a Ryobi? I don't think so. Put it on a big floater airplane such as a Stick or a 4*120.
