WALBRO WITH ALCOHOL

I WANT TO RUN MY TORO ON ALKY & NITRO. IS THERE A REBUILD KIT SUITED FOR THIS OR DO THEY HOLD UP OK WITH THE OEM RUBBER PARTS. IM ONLY GONNA CHANGE THE FUEL AND LEAVE THE MAG ON.

RE: WALBRO WITH ALCOHOL

You could just have a small tank handy with regular fuel. Plug it in and run reg gas(with oil) thorugh it the last engine run of the day. Good Luck Capt,n

Walbro carbs are not made to work with alcohol or nitro, they will last a little while. Do like like the Capt said and you will be ok.

If your talking gas/glow fuel with a glow plug then it has not been a problem.

2/3 gas 1/3 10% 10%. It has not hurt my carb yet.

We have been running our race planes for many years on glow fuel...Use silicone fuel tubing...
Walbro does not make alcohol carbs or parts...The WT499 used on G23 glow engines works just fine and requires no drilling or changing.....
Works great on gas also....

RE: WALBRO WITH ALCOHOL

THERE IS NO REBUILD KIT SPECIFIC TO A WT499 WHY DOES THIS CARB WORK WITH ALCHOL AND NOT THE OTHERS. WHICH PARTS DONT LIKE THE ALCOHOL?

RE: WALBRO WITH ALCOHOL

Any gasser carb will work with glow fuel if the fuel passages are large enough...The WT499 uses the exact same rebuild parts as all the other WT carbs..It works because the fuel passages are already large enough to flow either fuel...An otherwise stock G26 with a WT499 picks up 600 rpm using glow fuel and the stock mag ignition and spark plug..
There is a statement about using other fuels in Walbro carbs on my website..First page..

RCIGN1 IN A POST OF YOURS THAT I READ IN ANOTHER POST YOU SAID THAT THE PASSAGE UNDER THE NEEDLE NEEDS TO BE .083 AND ALL OTHERS DOUBLE THE AREA. WHEN THE NEEDLE PASSAGE IS LARGER THE NEEDLE DROPS DOWN DEEPER AND THE ACTUATOR ARM STICKS UP .060 ABOVE THE CARB SURFACE. I BENT IT BACK DOWN THE LEVEL WITH THE SURFACE BUT IM SURE THERE IS MORE TO IT THEN JUST BENDING. IS THERE A SITE ONLINE THAT EXPLAINS THE FUNCTION AND SPRING PRESSURE OR POPOFF PRESURE OF THIS NEEDLE ASSEMBLY. I RAN THIS CARB LAST NITE AND I RUNS WELL AND IM ABLE TO OPEN BOTH NEEDLE ENOUGH TO MAKE IT OVER RICH SO IVE GOT THE GALLEYS LARGE ENOUGH. IM STILL CONSERNED ABOUT THE POP OFF.

Not to worry, sounds like you got it right...I use .083 because it works for me, that's bigger than all the other passages, just don't want it smaller....Popoff is not all that critical, just seems to work better when between 6 and 12 or 15....Most of the carbs I check are over 15 and work well, if it works for you just leave it...
I guess you could do a google search and find more information...Check out E C Birt, he's the carb doctor.....;)
