No schematic, no program, need other to make timing curve, maybe better to buy in shop a 25 dollar ready to use cdi

RE: New CDI - opensource project JMJ and Bigboat

Schematic is almost ready. Program is completed and functioning perfectly. Please be patient as I get everything in one place to post. There is more to it than just posting what I have made. There are parts lists, documentation, board dimensions and yes actual pictures and a working system in a video all to be posted! If you have ever done a project like this, you know it doesn't take place in an instant. Besides, there are work schedules and I am not the only contributor to this project!
More people are involved than just myself. Nyemi wrote the software for the chip, I have the board design project and also do the live testing in my plane. Bluejets supplied my schematic drawing editor and board design software. Worth it? Yes!

No not exactly. John has his own version of CDI and Timer board.

We should make a new thread. I'll post what I have there for building these boards. The cdi portion is my tried and true design from back in the late 1980's when I started making them. The timer board is new as Com has said. It works just like the CH Synchro Spark in the fact that it just plugs in-between the ignition and the hall sensor. Shrink wrap for protection, add connectors and you're good to go.

really, you have to start new topic. This thread is very old, big and unuseful. its very difficult to find something here.<div>i am waiting for new topic with all info about your project. [8D]</div><div>
</div><div>dont forget to post here a link of new thread...;)</div>

Ok, can someone start a new thread for the new timer and ignition? I have never done it.
We need a good title. Any suggestions?

Hi Bill...
Sent you a pm.
My timer will never replace th SS for sure, but it's working well for me.
It's the best I can do with my 25 years of tinkering experience!

Rob,
Any suggestions for a 4 stoke CDI conversion? Wondering if the universal unit will work on a 4 stroke?
Thank you

Gompy 06-30-2013 02:18 AM

RE: New CDI - opensource project JMJ and Bigboat

To use the CDI with 4stroke you have only change the curve.

Which curve. Newbie to electronics here. Can you do this in the programming script?
